Greetings Roadrunner Families and Friends!

Principal Moore
 (centered in picture above)

It is with great honor and excitement that I write this letter of introduction to you as the Principal of Rymfire Elementary School. My passion for education and supporting the success of all students has been shaped through many of the relationships here at Rymfire Elementary School (RES). In August 2008, after serving several years as a teacher in Volusia County,  I joined the Roadrunner family. I served a teacher and later as an academic coach. It was here at Rymfire that I cultivated my passion for making a difference in the lives of others. I later earned a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Saint Leo University. In 2017, I accepted a position as a Curriculum Specialist for Flagler County Schools and then returned to Rymfire in July 2018 as Principal.

In my career, I have made it my top priority to ensure that every student receives the most well-rounded education possible and I am excited to bring that passion with me back to Rymfire Elementary School. I am committed to ensuring that student needs and interests help shape instruction and extracurricular opportunities. My goal is to ensure that all students are healthy, happy and safe, so they may learn and grow.

Together we can make a difference, I need and want your support in making RES the best! My door is open and I encourage students, parents, teachers, staff, and community members to schedule a time to meet with me to discuss the current practices of Rymfire Elementary School as well as ideas in order to improve our school practices.

Warm regards,

LaShakia Moore

Principal

Assistant Principal Lee

My name is Travis Lee, and it is my pleasure to serve as Assistant Principal at Rymfire Elementary School.  I have spent the majority of my 20 year career in the Flagler School District. I attended college at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, where I earned a B.S. in Education.  I began teaching Health and Physical Education in the Marion County School District where I also served as an assistant football, wrestling and track coach. I then had the opportunity to come to Flagler as Dean of Students, and an assistant track and football coach. Later, I attended Nova Southeastern University, where I earned my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. This afforded me the opportunity to become Assistant Principal at Flagler Palm Coast High School where I completed the last 6 years of my 10 years there in that position. In 2015 I had the incredible opportunity to join the Rymfire family as Assistant Principal.

Having the opportunity to continually serve our students, families and teachers has truly been rewarding. The smiles on the face of our Roadrunners when they have academic success or feel comforted by our various acts of kindness, serve as a constant reminder of why I joined education.  At Rymfire, we strive to improve student achievement of every student and I look forward to being able to impact the Rymfire family through student mentorship and serving as academic support for our wonderful faculty and staff. GO ROADRUNNERS!

Assistant Principal Pedro

I began my career as a second grade teacher at Wadsworth Elementary School.  For the next 12 years I taught under Paula St. Francis at Rymfire Elementary.   During my teaching career, I taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, both General Education and Exceptional Student Education (ESE) classes.  In addition to teaching, I also provided Title One tutoring, assisted a dance club, taught Summer Reading Camp for our third grade students, and organized curriculum for 21st Century’s summer program. During the the summer months, I also traveled North Florida as a Florida Reading Initiative (FRI) trainer, training teachers in high yield, research based literacy strategies.

My career as a educational leader began last year when Dusty Sims hired me as an Assistant Principal for Flagler Palm Coast High School (FPCHS).  I oversaw student services, the dean’s office, facilities, and our Multiple Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). This year I continue my service in public education as an Assistant Principal for Rymfire Elementary School, my home.  I continue my passion for behavior by overseeing the dean’s office, facilities, student services including guidance and ESE, as well as instruction.

I believe every child will succeed, and education needs to be tailored to individual needs.  I also believe that behavior needs to be taught, just like academics, and that every child requires different supports.  I promise to support all students’ learning, both emotionally and academically, and support our dedicated teachers and families in making all students’ dreams a reality.
